STERLING – Dorothy E.B. (Attfield) Arsenault, 92, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, surrounded by her loving family in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston. She was born in Kent, England the daughter of Archibald R. and Dorothy M. (Homewood) Attfield, and lived in Sterling for 52 years.
Her husband of 68 years, Robert H. Arsenault, died in 2007. She is survived by her son, Dennis R. Arsenault and his wife Elaine of Skowhegan, Maine; two daughters, Penelope G. Montcalm and her husband Russell of Sterling and Elaine B. Snell and her husband Charles of Deerfield, New Hampshire; and eight grandchildren, Lisa Weggler of Madison, ME, Deanne Gilboe of Jackman, ME, Scot Arsenault of Thomaston, ME, Jeffrey Snell of Epson, NH, Melissa Lemire of Weare, NH, Kimberly Golden of Ewa Beach, HI, Glenn Kush and Gregg Kush both of Sterling, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Fitchburg High School and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Along with her husband she enjoyed traveling and seeing the countryside in their motor home for over 30 years. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Dorothy's family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hour from 12 noon to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 15th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
