HOLDEN, MA/LARGO, FL - Helene E. (Galosy) Auger, 86, of Largo, FL, formerly of Holden, died on Thursday, December 6, 2007, in her home after an illness.
Her husband of 55 years, Roger H. R. Auger, passed away in 2003. She leaves a daughter, Elisabeth H. Carroll, and her husband, Frank, of Indian Shores, FL. She also leaves a nephew in France and cousins in Austria. She was born in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, the daughter of Julius and Paula (Schafer) Galosy.
Mrs. Auger was raised and educated in Austria and Hungary. While living in France, she pursued her studies in foreign languages and graduated in 1955 from the Institute for the Promotion of Foreign Languages of Paris, France. After moving to the United States with her family in 1958, Mrs. Auger was an executive assistant and then a research assistant in German-American History at the German Department of Clark University, Worcester, MA, until 1967. She also held several positions with the former Paul Revere Life Insurance Company. At her retirement in 1983 she was a Senior Correspondent. Mrs. Auger was a member of the Cultural Center of Boston, the Worcester Horticultural Society, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. After moving to Largo, FL, in 2005, she enjoyed spending time with her family, nature walks admiring Florida’s flora and fauna, traveling, line dancing, boating, and reading. Mrs. Auger volunteered for the Largo Medical Center and was a member of the St. Catherine – Siena Catholic Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 11 to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be in All Faith's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190-5362.
