Biography
HOLDEN - Elbert G."Bud" Stocks, Jr., 92, died peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Holden Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Bristol, CT, the son of Elbert G. and Marguerite (Welch) Stocks and has lived in Holden for over 50 years. Bud graduated from Bristol High School with the class of 1944. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He went on to earn two Bachelor of Science Degrees from the University of Miami and The Chicago Aeronautical University. Bud had a passion for engineering and education that guided him during his years working at Coppus Engineering Co. in Worcester and later as a teacher at the former Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. Bud enjoyed photography, model airplanes, playing the saxophone and had a vast knowledge of history. He cherished his family and was especially proud to be a great grandfather. Elbert was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean F. (Giguere) Stocks in 2009. He is survived by his son, E. Gordon Stocks III and his wife, Judith of Jefferson; a daughter, Mary Ellen Stocks and her husband, Carl W. Oehrle of Morristown, VT; four grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his sister, Ruth Pond. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
