Durward Wayne Cole

July 23, 1929 — January 14, 2023

PRINCETON – Durward W. Cole; 93, a longtime resident of Princeton, passed away peacefully at Holden Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He was born in Irasburg, Vermont, the son of George E. and Eva A. (Huntley) Cole.

His beloved wife of 60 years, Marjorie L. (Grout) Cole, passed away in 2022. He leaves his nephews, James MacGeachey of Florida, John MacGeachey and his companion, Colleen Hannam of Princeton, William Mason and his wife, Nicole of Rutland and Robert Mason and his wife, Linda of Rutland; his grand-nephews, Clayton Mason, and John Hannam; and his grand-nieces, Sophia, and Elizabeth Mason. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald, Earle, Harry and Clifford Cole, and his sister, Grace Savage.

Durward graduated from Orleans High School in Vermont and worked on the family farm before serving his country and enlisting into the Army in 1955. Following his honorable discharge from the service in 1957, Durward worked as a carpenter and a brick and stone mason for many years before retiring. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Princeton, and the Leominster and Westminster Sportsman’s Clubs. He enjoyed working on his brother’s farm and raising rabbits.
