STERLING – Duane “PeeWee” L. Hoaglund, Sr., 68, of 10 Broadway Avenue, a 41-year resident of Sterling, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in Clinton Hospital.
He leaves his wife, Donna L. (Berry) Hoaglund; two sons, Duane L. Hoaglund, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Leominster, Scott P. Hoaglund and his wife Marlene of Lunenburg; two step-children, Eric Vaughan of Arizona and Billie Jo Walter of Worcester; two brothers, Harry Hoaglund of Sterling and Philip Hoaglund of Worcester; a sister, Barbara Crowley of Worcester; 5 grandchildren; nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. He was born in Worcester and raised in West Boylston, son of Harold O. and Berneice L. (Downey) Hoaglund, and was a graduate of West Boylston High School. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran.
Mr. Hoaglund worked for Anderson Products in Worcester for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. Previously he worked for U.S. Envelope Company in Worcester. He was a member of the Mid State Antique Auto Club of Fitchburg, and was an avid outdoorsman and hiker having climbed every 4000 ft. and above mountain in New England.
The funeral service for Mr. Hoaglund will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 22, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564.
