Biography
HOLDEN – Dorothy F. (Waterfield) Bjorklund, 98, formerly of Stoneleigh Road in Holden, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2012, under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Overlook Masonic Nursing Home in Charlton.
She was born on January 20, 1914 in Clinton, the daughter of William and Florence (Monk) Waterfield, Sr., and was a graduate of Commerce High School. Before retiring, Dorothy was an administrative assistant at Bay State Stamping Co. in Worcester. Dorothy was a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Worcester where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and otherwise aided the congregation in many ways.
Her husband of 65 years, Edward O. Bjorklund, died in 2005. She leaves two sons, Richard A. Bjorklund of Williamsburg, VA and Bradford L. Bjorklund of Schaumburg, IL; three grandchildren, Kristin MacMannis, Nicole Wolny and Chad Bjorklund; 3 great-grandchildren, Jackson Wolny, Kathryn Bjorklund, Evelyn MacMannis; and many nephews and nieces. Dorothy was predeceased by her three brothers, William, Jr., Raymond and Everett Waterfield.
All those who were touched by the life of Dorothy F. Bjorklund are invited to join in honoring her memory at a memorial service on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Overlook Masonic Healthcare Chapel, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton. Dorothy will be committed to her final resting place at a private burial service at Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Bement/Waterfield Educational Grants, Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts, 37 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01103-1787. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with the arrangements.
