Biography
PAXTON – Dorothy C. (Mercier) Nieber, 88, formerly of Paxton, died peacefully on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Northborough. Dorothy was born in Marlborough, the daughter of Alfred Wunsch and Myrtie (May) Boutiette.
Dorothy graduated from Grafton High School and attended Becker Junior College. She worked as an accountant for Wyman Gordon Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1992. Dorothy settled in Paxton where she lived for over 50 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton. Dorothy was dedicated to the community both as a dispatcher for the Paxton Police and Fire Department, as well as outreach coordinator for the Paxton Council on Aging and the Meals on Wheels Committee. She was a former member of the Bull Dog Club of New England and was known for her love of English Bulldogs and Bull Mastiffs.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 23 years, Frank W. Nieber in 1999. She is survived by her step-son, Richard Nieber of Northborough; step-daughter, Melanie Arsenault and her husband, Alan of Greentown, PA; her nephew, Edward F. Wunsch and his wife, Jeanne of Webster. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Earl Wunsch; her nephew, Robert Earl Wunsch; and the wife of her step-son, Marie Nieber.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service honoring Dorothy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd at the First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church Street, Paxton. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114-2699.
