RUTLAND - Dorothy L. (McRae) Lambert, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Falmouth Hospital after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Dudley and Jennie (Rogaishio) McRae and moved to Rutland in 1967.
Her loving husband of 58 years, Louis L. Lambert, Jr., passed away in 2014. She leaves her daughters; Christine M. Coulombe and her husband, Michael of Rutland, Patricia A. Cerasoli and her partner, Harry Stewart of Seneca Falls, New York, Maryellen Slamin and her husband, Joseph of Mashpee; her three grandchildren, Monica, Ashley, and James; her great-granddaughter, Natalie; her brother, Joseph D. McRae of Texas; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dottie was a Phlebotomist for many years at UMass Medical Center, before retiring. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Rutland Historical Society. She enjoyed her garden, movies, golf and crafting. She always kept up with the latest trends and loved following the Red Sox. During her youth, she enjoyed softball and was an avid swimmer at Bell Pond.
She enjoyed traveling with Louie and spending time at the beach, especially to Lake Worth, Florida. Dottie was a dog lover and had great fun with her poodle, Angel. Most of all, she cherished her loving family and wonderful friends. She loved to celebrate, whether it be over lunch or a glass of wine, she brought laughter to every occasion. In her final years, she was able to fulfill a dream of living on Cape Cod, where she enjoyed singing and painting among new friends at Atria in Falmouth.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions and for everyone’s safety, funeral services are private at this time and will be held on Tuesday, December 29. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to Poodle Rescue of New England, P.O. Box 441447, Somerville, MA, 02144-0012 or Rutland Historical Society, 232 Main St, Rutland, MA 01543.
