Dorothy (Spencer) Erickson

Biography

Rutland - Dorothy (Spencer) Erickson, 92, died peacefully at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine on Saturday, August 12, 2017.   Dorothy was born in Worcester, the daughter of Warren Grant and Ethel (Doyle) Spencer and lived in Rutland for over 65 years.
Dorothy graduated from Major Edwards High School in West Boylston with the class of 1942.  She married the late Warren T. Erickson in 1946 and the couple settled in Rutland.  Dorothy was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland and was active in the Rutland Historical Society and Preservation Worcester.  Dorothy had worked briefly at Norton Co. and Alice Nielson's Dress Shop in Worcester.  She later worked in the Cafeteria at Naquag Elementary School in Rutland and was an active volunteer at the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester.
Dorothy's beloved husband of 60 years, Warren T. Erickson, passed away in 2006.  She is survived by her son, Warren Erickson Jr. of Rockport, Maine; her daughter, Donna Tokarz and her husband, Peter of Worcester, Maine and Arizona; her granddaughter, Emily Natale of Florida; her grandson, Jeremy Erickson of Warren, Maine; and her great-granddaughter, Elaina Bernaquer.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Dorothy's life at a graveside funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Rural Cemetery, Main Street (Route 122A), Rutland.  Memorial contributions may be made to Sixty Three Washington Street, 63 Washington St., Camden, ME 04843, the adult day care center she attended.
