STERLING - Dorothy May (Flemming) Dodd, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Sterling Village Nursing Home. She was born in Northborough, the daughter of Charles L. and Gretchen (Pressler) Flemming and had lived in Northborough, Shrewsbury and retired to the “camp” in Boylston before moving to Sterling to live with her daughter.
Her loving husband of 64 years, Eugene A. Dodd, passed away in 2013. She leaves her daughter, caregiver and best friend, Linda E. Davis of Sterling; her grandson, Andrew R. Davis of Eastvale, CA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in Germany. She was predeceased by her siblings, Emma Arseneault, Charles Flemming, Linwood Flemming and Victoria Sanders.
Dorothy graduated from Northborough High School and Salter Secretarial School before working a short time at Reed & Prince Company in Worcester. She was a member of First Church in Sterling and was a former Girl Scout Leader “Cookie Mom”. She enjoyed playing Bridge, Ballroom dancing and trips to Hampton Beach. Later in life, Dorothy enjoyed Bingo, Domino’s, Wii bowling, and was the biggest fan of the “Sterling Strummers” Ukulele group at Sterling Senior Center.
Dorothy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the staff of UMass Hospice, especially Cristina and Gina for the loving care and support and the Kneeland family who opened their hearts to make Dorothy their Mama.
A private graveside service will be held at Howard Cemetery in Northborough. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church in Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Road, Sterling, MA 01564, or to the Sterling Senior Center, P.O. Box 243, Sterling, MA 01564. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
