STERLING - Dorothy (Calcia) Carlson, 84, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Sterling Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Sterling, the daughter of Anthony and Mary P. (O'Toole) Calcia .
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Erving Carlson; her daughter, Barbara Ptak; her son, John R. Carlson; two grandsons, James Ptak and John E. Carlson; her sisters, Kathleen Belair and Antoinette Thibeault and her husband, Edward; her brother, Robert Calcia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Thibodeau, Rosalie Regonini and Marguerite Tobine.
Dorothy was a member of First Church in Sterling and a former member and Deaconess of the First Congregational Church of Princeton. She was an avid candlepin bowler, loved to play Pitch and enjoyed cooking and baking. Dorothy also enjoyed feeding and watching birds, bluebirds being her favorite bird.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the Carlson family from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service honoring and celebrating Dorothy's life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
