WEST BOYLSTON - Dorothy (Campbell) Meanor, 94, a longtime resident of West Boylston, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Dodge Park Rest Home, Worcester.
Dorothy was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Alexander N. and Eva M. (Longley) Campbell. She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin A. Meanor, who died in 2013. Besides her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Elmer Campbell.
Dorothy worked for many years as a sales clerk for the former Cutlers Clothing Store in the Greendale section of Worcester. She also worked at Valtec in West Boylston before retiring. A very active woman until recently, Dorothy was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, and worked in their thrift shop and participated in creating prayer shawls for the church. Dorothy’s creative side led her to not only enjoy crocheting, but also knitting, and painting. She was a member of the former West Boylston Senior Citizens, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Harold N. Keith Post 204, the Red Hats, and the West Boylston Historical Society. Dorothy also looked forward to spending time together with her friends in the “Golden Girls” group.
She is survived and will be missed by her loving daughter, Lynne F. Grettum and her husband, Robert of Princeton; her nephews, Steven Campbell and his wife, Jodi and their children and Robert Campbell and his partner, Wendy; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Campbell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Church Street, West Boylston. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
