Worcester - Doris V. (Werner) Sundholm, 97, died Friday, January 7, 2005 in the Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Her husband of 45 years, Kenneth S. Sundholm died in 1976. She leaves a daughter, Ann Scherdell of Holden; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth Scherdell, David Scherdell, Paul Scherdell and Jill Bailey; 8 great-grandchildren. A son, Paul E. Sundholm, a grandson, Jeffrey Scherdell and three sisters, Olga Brown, Ellen Clark and Irene Backholm predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Fritz and Hannah (Olson) Werner. Doris had lived most of her life in Worcester and 11 years in Holden before moving to Colony Apartments on Grove Street in 1987. She was a graduate of North High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked as an R.N. for Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Worcester and taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She enjoyed serving others and spending time with family and friends.
The Memorial service for Mrs. Sundholm will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11 in the First Congregational Church of Worcester, 1070 Pleasant Street. There are no calling hours.
