Doris H. (Hjertstrand) Carlson

HOLDEN – Doris H. (Hjertstrand) Carlson, 88, of Colony Homes, died Friday, June 9, 2006 in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
Her husband of 39 years, Charles Carlson, died in 1979. She leaves two daughters, Gail McEachern of Jackson, Wyoming and Dianne Landquist of Rutland; five grandchildren, Kurt McClelland, Cheryl Toland, Eric, David and Jeffrey Landquist; a great-granddaughter, Anika Toland; and two nephews. Her son, Larry Carlson, a brother Raymond Rand and a grandson, Mark McEachern, predeceased her.
Mrs. Carlson was born in Worcester, daughter of Sven Hjalmer and Marie Carolina (Segelson) Hjertstrand. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the LCW Circle, Koininia Group, Chaffins Women’s Club and the Holden Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, baking and traveling to the beaches of Maine. Her greatest love was for her family and friends. Doris’s life reflected her strong faith in her Lord.
A memorial service for Mrs. Carlson will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions maybe made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520.
