Biography
WORCESTER – Doris (Greenberg) Friedman, age 92, a resident of Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence, died on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at UMass Memorial Healthcare.
Her husband, Rabbi Seymour Friedman, died in 2015. She leaves three sons, Aryeh Friedman and his wife, Reena of Philadelphia, Rabbi Raphael Friedman and his wife, Aliza of Hoshaya, Israel and Aron Friedman and his wife, Elisha of Chevy Chase, Maryland; a daughter, Reena, wife of Saul Slovin of Worcester; a sister, Shifra Gordon of Jerusalem, Israel; a sister-in-law, Rosa Greenberg of Seattle; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Rabbi William Greenberg.
She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, a daughter of Abba and Ethel (Matlaw) Greenberg and had lived in Aventura, North Miami Beach and Hollywood in Florida for 42 years, moving to Worcester in 2015.
She graduated from Florida International University of Miami and received her Master’s Degree from Barry College of Miami Shores, FL. She had been a social worker for many years.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 15, AT THE JEWISH HEALTHCARE CENTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be held today in Eretz Hachaim Cemetery in Bet Shemesh, Israel.
Memorial Observance will be held through 3 p.m. on Friday, January 20, at the residence of Reena and Saul Slovin, 30 Brookshire Road, Worcester.
