Dorice M. (Somerville) Bowman, 91, beloved wife of the late Albert S. Bowman, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Hospital, Leominster Campus. She was the daughter of the late Erwin and Marion (Stowers) Somerville.
Dorice was an avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles and the counted cross stitch. She always took an interest in her family’s daily activities, paying close attention to every detail. She was an outstanding cook and will be remembered for her delicious Chicken Divan and her famous phrase, “is it piping hot?”.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her two daughters, Cathy B. Hamilton and her husband, Alexander of Milford, NH and Nancy E. Elia of Clinton; her grandchildren, Kurt Hamilton and Stephen Elia; and her great-grandchildren, Stephen and Kaden. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Rocci Elia.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Burial will follow at Reservoir Pines Cemetery, 225 W. Boylston Street, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, give.salvationarmyusa.org.
