Doreen Ellen Slovin

HOLDEN – Doreen Ellen Slovin, 53, of Jefferson, died at home unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 with her wife, Barbara Sorley Slovin at her side. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Claire Slovin Gurney and the late Robert L. Slovin. She is predeceased by her identical twin sister, Noreen Lois Slovin and stepfather, Gordon T. Gurney.



Doreen graduated from Wachusett Regional in 1977 and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Johnson & Wales University, RI. She was employed for many years at Stratus Technologies and recently at Dell EqualLogic in Nashua, NH. She was an enthusiastic and dedicated computer engineer. Her time with family and friends, her love of birds and all of nature filled her life with joy.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Doreen at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, at the First Unitarian Church, 90 Main St., Worcester. The Rev. Richard Jones will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mass. Audubon Society, 414 Massasoit Road, Worcester, MA 01604. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
