Dora Mae (Eddy) Miller

August 14, 1933 — October 27, 2013

PAXTON – Dora Mae (Eddy) Miller, 80, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after an illness. She was born in Worcester in 1933, the daughter of David and Doris E. (Ellis) Eddy and graduated from North High School and the University of Vermont, School of Dental Hygiene.

She leaves her husband of 59 years, Stanley L. Miller; a son, Craig S. Miller of Paxton; two daughters, Rebecca M. Smith and her husband, Clifford of Speculator, NY and Deborah E. Knepper and her husband, Douglas of Princeton; 5 grandchildren; 3 nephews and 10 nieces; grand nieces and nephews; and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, David H. Eddy of Rutland and a sister, Mary O’Leary of Los Angeles.

Dora Mae was a dental hygienist for 35 years for Roger Rochette D.M.D. and later worked for Forrest Jacobs D.M.D for 10 years before retiring in 1990. Dora volunteered for the beloved "The Corner Shop" a great consignment shop in Holden. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton and was a life member of the Paxton Women’s Club. Dora enjoyed her family gatherings whether hosting or attending because family was her priority. Her hobby of tole painting antique tin can be seen in all the family's home along with "dorastan" creations. She and Stan poured their love into grandchildren, family, many close friends, and community. Life for Dora was blessed and full, leaving a legacy to our family of love and care.

A memorial service celebrating Dora’s life will be held on Saturday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church Street, Paxton. Burial will be at Mooreland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Corner Shop, 1180 Main St., Holden.
