HOLDEN - On April 1, 2025, Donna Marie Nathan, of Holden passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side at the age of 66. Donna will be missed dearly by her husband of 41 years, Brian, her son Christopher and his wife Adrianna, her son Michael and his partner Mackenzie, and her three grandsons Dario, Aurelio, and Michael.
Donna was born on May 7, 1958, to Nathalie and Robert Catino of Newton and was the third of eight children. She attended Catholic school for many years and enjoyed helping her father with his newspaper business, working as an athletic trainer for the football and wrestling teams, and was an avid diver. Donna graduated from Newton North High School as part of the class of 1976. She then attended Mass Bay Community College, graduating with her degree in Nursing.
Donna met her husband Brian in March of 1982. Their love blossomed through their shared interest in theatre, family values, and travel. They got married on October 1, 1983, at the Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury. Donna began her nursing career in the Emergency Room and then found her passion for pediatrics, working in primary care for many years before transitioning to Early Intervention to cap off her 42-year career helping others.
In 1989, she began raising her family of four in Shrewsbury. Donna loved taking family vacations and often would advocate for multiple each year. Whether it be visiting the in-laws in Florida, relaxing on Lake Winnipesaukee, or venturing out to places like Mexico and the Grand Canyon, what mattered the most to Donna was quality time with her family. This was also true in later years, often enjoying celebrating her father at Castle Island or taking special trips to the casino and York Beach with her mother.
In Donna's downtime, she also loved to give back to the community. She did this by crocheting hats and scarves for children in need and donating them to Kits For Kids. It is estimated that she hand-crocheted and donated over 1,000 articles of clothing. Donna was the most selfless individual and would go out of her way to help others and value people being kind more than anything.
Donna lived a full life and there are many experiences she will be unable to have. Donna was excited about exploring her newly retired life with her husband and watching her grandchildren grow up. Donna may no longer be here, but her love will remain.
Services for Donna will be held at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, on Sunday, April 13th. Calling hours will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
