WORCESTER - Donna M. (Burgess) Maki, 72, passed away from complications of diabetes at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. She was born in Grafton, the daughter of Carlton V. and Constance A. (Lavoie) Burgess and had graduated from Burncoat Senior High School.
She leaves her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Maki; her daughter, Christine Maki-Cogswell and her husband, Craig of Boylston, her son Brian Maki and his wife, April, and three nieces raised like daughters Randie Burgess, Anjelica Burgess and Samantha Burgess, all of Worcester; her four grandchildren, Caden, Brian Jr., Chloe and Vinnie; her siblings; Patricia Olson of New Hampshire, Richard Burgess of South Carolina, Robert Burgess of Worcester; Nancy Lundberg of Florida and Cathleen Warner of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews.
Donna worked at UMass Memorial Healthcare - Memorial Campus as an Endoscopy Technician for over twenty years before retiring. Previously, she worked at Salisbury Nursing Home in Worcester. She enjoyed spending time with her family, walking on the beach, bowling, playing bingo, reading the latest Stephen King novel, solving the daily word jumble while sipping coffee at 5 am, camping and family trips to New Hampshire and Maine. She had a fondness for stray or injured animals of all kinds and was known to keep many of them as pets.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 21st at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Donna are private and will be held at the convenience of the family at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
