Donald V. Ripa

STERLING – Donald V. Ripa, 75, of 3 Pleasantview Drive, a 50-year resident of Sterling, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 in the Health Alliance–Leominster Hospital, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Jane C. (Harty) Ripa; two sons, Charles “Chuck” V. Ripa, Sr. and his wife Alison of Sterling and Daniel P. Ripa and his wife Kimberlee of Lancaster; two daughters, Donna J. McCullen and her husband Robert of Lancaster and Maria A. Gove and her husband Robert of Gardner; 11 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was born and raised in Northampton the son of James V. and Amelia (Camposeo) Ripa, and was a graduate of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Ripa was a cost accountant for Colonial Press in Clinton for over 20 years. He was an accomplished classical pianist, played the baritone horn and performed with the “Happy Hour Band” and the “Sterling Cadet Band”. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church and the Clinton Knights of Columbus.

The funeral for Mr. Ripa will be held on Thursday, August 3, from the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sterling Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 1081, Sterling, MA 01564; or St. Richard of Chichester Church, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 657, Sterling, MA 01564.
