WEST BOYLSTON – Donald E. Vogel, 70, of Angell Brook Drive, died peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Barbara A. (Ferri) Vogel; two daughters, Robin M. Vogel of Chicago and Lynn V. Scott and her husband Jeffrey of Holden; a sister, Ann B. Redman of Winnfield, Louisiana; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Mary-Elizabeth Scott of Holden. Four brothers: Carl, William, Paul and Steven predeceased him. Donald was born and raised in Dorchester, the son of Charles N. and Christine (Enemark) Vogel and lived many years in Cranston, Rhode Island before moving to West Boylston in 2005.
Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army for 3 years starting in 1958. He worked at Almac’s Grocery Store in Rhode Island for 28 years. He was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester, loved following all of the New England Sport teams and enjoyed working in his garden. He was known for his gentle kindness and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The Vogel family would like to thank all of Donald’s caregivers at the Beaumont Nursing Center, especially those on the first floor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 26, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, at St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Following the Mass, interment with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
