Donald Holman Stillman, Jr., 75, of Holden, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.
Don Stillman was born on September 16, 1949, in Evanston, Illinois to Donald and Patricia (Robillard) Stillman. He was raised in Darien, Connecticut, with his elder sister Cici, before going off to earn his degree in film studies at NYU.
After meeting on a blind date, Don’s heart was immediately captured by Valerie Susan Riddle, and they were married in November 1982. Together they raised their family and lived in Wilton, Connecticut, for more than four decades, sharing a deep commitment to their church and their Lord, Jesus.
Don was known for his quirky and endearing sense of humor and his deep love of people. He was passionate about many hobbies throughout his life. He was a drummer in a band, a ham radio operator, and a recreational pilot. Don devoted much of his professional life to God’s kingdom, working through faith-based media to share the hope of the Gospel with people around the world.
As a husband and father, Don set an effortless example of selfless, faithful love. He lived his life fully devoted to his family, making sure each day that Valerie and their children knew how deeply he cared for them. As he stepped into the presence of his Saviour, his family was left knowing that he accomplished that goal.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Valerie Susan Stillman; and his children, Elizabeth (Brian) Keogh, Brian Stillman, Juliet (Luke) Armerding, and Christian (Jenny) Stillman; his 9 grandchildren, Caleb, Hayley, Mackenzie, Mirielle, Katherine, Rebecca, Charlotte, Oliver, and Gabriel; and his sister, Cici Irvine, of Arlington, VA. He was preceded in death by his son, Beau Riddle.
2 Timothy 4:7–8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
