STERLING – Donald O. Patten, 86, of 3 Hazelhurst Way, died Friday, November 19, 2004, in the Sterling Healthcare Facility after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Marguerite F. (Ruggles) Patten; a son, Donald O. Patten Jr., and his wife Janice of Sterling; two daughters, Jane Patten Ricard of Gardner and Joy Patten of Sterling; a sister, Roberta Reynolds of Keene, New Hampshire; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, James Patten and two sisters, Ruth Leslie and Rosamond Rambo predeceased him. He was born in Clinton, son of James W. and Fidelia E. (Nourse) Patten, raised in Sterling and lived in Marston Mills before returning to Sterling in 1998. He graduated North High School in Worcester and attended Northeastern University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Patten was a farm machinery dealer for 30 years and owner and operated Sterling Farmers Supply, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First Church in Sterling and the Trinity Lodge of Masons in Clinton.
Calling hours for Mr. Patten will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will be private in Oakhill Cemetery, Clinton Road, Sterling. A Memorial Service will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 26, in the First Church of Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Road, Sterling.
