Spencer – Donald J. Morrow, 88, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born in West Boylston, he was the son of the late William J. and Sarah (Priest) Morrow. He graduated from Major Edward High School and was raised on the family’s Morrow Brothers Dairy Farm in West Boylston and Paxton. Donald built a house in Paxton and lived there many years with his wife Janice and their children before making his home in Spencer.
Donald served in the Army National Guard before embarking on a career as a truck dispatcher with Monson Chemical Co. in Leominster. He had many hobbies that included driving his Crossfire and remodeling his home. He found his greatest joy at “The Cottage” on Thompson Pond in Spencer where friends and family could create memories of swimming, boating and enjoying the natural peace of the pond. A gifted pianist, he played in restaurants and clubs as a young man. He delighted in playing music, particularly the melodies of Frankie Carle. He was a kind and generous man with few words, but great deeds.
Donald was predeceased by his beloved companion of nearly 40 years, Marilyn Keough. He leaves behind cherished memories with his sons, Jeffrey Morrow of Holden and James Morrow and his wife, Jessica, of Spencer; his daughter, Melanie Alzaher of Worcester; his sister, Emily Martin of Lexington; and his adored grandchildren, Alyssa and her husband Jeffery Fowler, Douglas Swartz and Callen Morrow. He was also dearly loved by Marilyn’s sons and grandson, several nieces, nephews, his former wife Janice Lakus, and her husband Richard. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Stuart Morrow, Richard Morrow, his sister Lillian Milner and Marilyn’s daughter Faith.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Memorial calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 12 p.m. Burial will be private.
