Donald Mccauley

HOLDEN - Donald F. McCauley, 92, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 24, 2021. He was born in Holden, the son of William A. and Myra (Elliot) McCauley and grew up in Holden.

Donald graduated from Holden High School with the class of 1947. He was a gifted athlete and had served as Co-Captain of the High School basketball team with his life-long friend, Ed Potvin. Donald went on to become a Master Plumber, working for several companies before later owning his own plumbing company.

In 1961, Donald met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Kalalas). The couple married in 1963 and settled in Holden. They went on to have 2 children and share 57 years of marriage. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many years sharing this passion with his brothers.

Donald will be lovingly missed and remembered by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Kalalas) McCauley; his daughters, Judy Ruskowski and her husband, Peter of Barre, Barbara McCauley and her husband, Joe of Athol, Sandra and Dawn McCauley of Holden; Dorothy Plucinski of Holden, his son, William Mott and his wife, Sandy of Holden, 9 grandchildren, many great-children; and his brother, Kenneth McCauley and his wife Jane of Hubbardston, as well as his sisters-in-law Barbara and Connie. Donald was predeceased by his sons, Gene and David McCauley; 7 brothers and 5 sisters.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service honoring and celebrating Donald's life at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
