WEBSTER - Donald H. Gilchrest, 80, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Born and raised in Holden, Don was the son of Harry E. and Barbara M. (Heath) Gilchrest and lived many years in Worcester and Webster.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his Children, Lana J. Charest and her husband, William of Lunenburg, Gina M. Leveillee and her husband, David of Webster, Donald T. Gilchrest and his wife, Paula of Webster, Russell J. Gilchrest and his wife, Samantha of Webster, and; three sisters, Virginia M. Downey of Brimfield, Judy Armstrong and her husband, James of Florida and Sandra Downey of Florida; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Don owned and operated several used retail furniture stores in the Worcester area. He enjoyed furniture refinishing, fishing, and camping with his family. He loved animals particularly his beloved dogs Harley, Cuddles, and Scooter. Don was known for his peaceful spirit, and a willingness to go beyond the call of duty to help anyone in need. He worshiped at the former Amazing Grace Church in Southbridge where he made many close friends. He enjoyed the holidays and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his steadfast love of the Lord and compassion for others.

Relatives and friends are invited and welcomed to visit with Don’s family from 1 to 2 pm on Sunday, August 1st, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty of Animals), www.aspca.org .
