BARRE - Donald C. Wilber, 74, died peacefully at the Holden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on the morning of Saturday, June 14, 2014. Donald was born in Attleboro on March 23, 1940, the son of Clifford and Mae (Carboni) Wilber and lived in Medway and New Braintree before moving to Barre with his family 20 years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laurel E. (Rice) Wilber of Barre; his four children, Sky Wilber and his wife Sumita of Scarsdale, NY, Brook Hauver and her husband David of Auburn, Forest Wilber of Worcester and Rain Wilber of Barre; as well as three grandchildren, Robert, Cassandra and Sloane.
Donald graduated from Medway High school and then Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, serving as an Aerographer's Mate stationed at the United States Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA. Donald went on to a career in several different fields. Most recently, Donald worked at the Templeton Development Center as a Direct Care Worker, retiring in 2006. He also worked for Dairy Herd Improvement of Worcester County for many years. Donald loved fishing in the Quabbin, listening to Red Sox games on the radio and had a passion for photography.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating Donald's life on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private. To share a memory or leave an on-line condolence visit
