Life Legacy
PAXTON - Domenic “Don” Mancini, 71, of Paxton, passed away at home Wednesday morning, February 24, 2016, lovingly surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Judith (Reinhold) Mancini of Paxton; his three sons, Patrick Mancini, Donald Mancini and his wife, Tina all of Holden, and Brad Mancini of Paxton; and son-in-law, Michael Wharff of West Des Moines, IA; seven precious grandchildren, Matthew, Marianna and Nicholas Wharff of West Des Moines, IA, Angelina, Domenic, Isabella and Vincent Mancini of Holden; his devoted sister, Patricia Haddad of Webster; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Patsy and Mary (Padavano) Mancini and his precious daughter, Deborah Mancini Wharff.Don graduated from North High School and Wentworth Institute where he pursued a degree in home building construction. He was a gifted athlete, excelling in both basketball and baseball, and for the last decade of his life golf had become his favorite sport. Playing golf brought him great joy, especially when golfing with his sons. Memorable sports moments in his younger days include a Telegram headline “Mancini Shuts Out St. John’s” following a high school baseball game and scoring 45 points in a collegiate basketball game, before the three point line was established. He was vice-president of his family’s business, M&M Builders, Inc., designing and constructing homes in Worcester, Shrewsbury and Grafton. In 1978 he founded Cheyenne Motors Inc., a used car dealership at 117 Cambridge Street in Worcester. Don’s work ethic was unsurpassed and for nearly four decades built a reputation for honesty, fairness and delivering quality used cars to his loyal (and mostly repeat) customers. He was proud of his A+ Better Business Bureau rating. In 2000, his son Brad joined the company and Don very much enjoyed working side by side with Brad for the past sixteen years. Don was a member of St. Columba parish in Paxton and Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton. Don was a truly gentle man, living his life with the highest integrity, quick wit, open honesty and fair business practices. Putting loved ones’ needs first was a priority in his life, placing little focus on his own needs. His family was his greatest joy and we loved surrounding him with our love. Being with his precious grandchildren brought the biggest smiles to his face. They loved their Papa with all their hearts, and Papa loved them even more. There is no doubt that the passing of this loving, gentle man will leave a huge void in the hearts of his loved ones, friends and all who were blessed to know him.Don’s family is very grateful to both of his doctors, Dr. Daniel DeAngelo at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Dr. David Shepro at Eaton Place Oncology for their guidance, support and friendship. Calling hours will be held from 3-6 pm on Sunday, February 28, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 29 at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Ave. Paxton. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton.
