AMHERST/RUTLAND – Eileen Dolan, 49, of 128 Colonial Village, Amherst, formerly of Rutland, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006, after an illness.
She leaves her mother, S. Joyce (Linton) Dolan of Rutland; her sister, J. Marie Dumas of Florida; four brothers, D. Vince Dolan, Jr., Thomas J. Dolan and David W. Dolan, all of Rutland, and James M. Dolan of Northbridge; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Donald V. Dolan, Sr., was raised and lived in Rutland before moving to Amherst 20 years ago.
She was a 1974 graduate of Wachusett Regional High School, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Worcester State College in Early Childhood and Special Education and her Master’s Degree from UMass-Amherst in Early Childhood Education and Art.
Miss Dolan taught in the Amherst School System. Previously she taught in the Antelope County School System in California and was a special education teacher in the North Brookfield Elementary School. She was also a professional artist.
A memorial Mass for Miss Dolan will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will be private in Rural Cemetery, 142 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newman Catholic Center UMass Amherst, Attn: Fr. Douglas McGonagle, 472 Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA 01002. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
