HOLDEN – Irene D. (Miskavich) Hoyt, 82, of Malden Street, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 1, 2011, after an illness.
Her husband, Edward G. Hoyt died in 1988. She leaves a son, Jeffrey E. Hoyt of Bowdoinham, Maine; a daughter, Nancy L. Buell of Concord; a sister, Ruth Kulunis of Worcester; four grandchildren, Shannon and Jamie Buell and Edward and Stephen Hoyt; many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by two brothers, Charles Miskavich and Joseph Mitchell and two sisters, Aldona Cepulonis and Lillian Mernik. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Charles J. and Beatrice N. (Mernik) Miskavich and lived 36 years in Holden.
Irene graduated from Commerce High School and worked at Norton Company for 28 years, retiring from Saint-Gobain in 1990. She was a member of St. George's Church in Worcester and sang in the choir. She was also a member of The Master Singers of Worcester and sang with several local touring groups.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 5th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. George's Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Memorial contributions may be made to the UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
