RUTLAND – Ruth "Dixie" S. (Lindberg) Williams, 86, of Glenwood Road, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in River Terrace Healthcare, Lancaster.
Her husband, Duncan J. Williams and her sons, Daniel and Matthew Williams, predeceased her. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Williams of Lakewood, CA and Stephen Williams of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Deedee Glynn of Rutland and Sue Pentland of Princeton; a sister, Marjorie Naqvi of Worcester; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Gustaf M. and Sophie (Hammarstrom) Lindberg and lived in Rutland for many years.
Ruth graduated from Commerce High School and Dean Junior College. She worked for the O.S.S. in Washington, D.C. during World War II and as a house mother at the Devereux School in Rutland before retiring.
Funeral services are private. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
