HOLDEN – Diran Deranian, 96, formerly of Apple Tree Lane, Holden, died Saturday, August 14, 2004, in Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Beverly, in the presence of his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Marion E. (Tuysuzian) Deranian; a son, Dee J. Deranian of Windham, NH; two daughters, Susan M. Deranian of Peabody and Norma D. Grove of Manhattan Beach, CA; a sister, Rose Kirishjian of Miami, FL; six grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was born and raised in Northbridge, the son of Jacob and Agnes (DerSarkisian) Deranian and lived 50 years in Holden.
Mr. Deranian graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1929. He was a mechanical engineer and worked over 30 years for Heald Machine Co. in Worcester retiring in 1972. He was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Holden, Isaiah Thomas Lodge of Masons, Aletheia Grotto and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club all in Worcester.
He was a devoted family man and remained active throughout his life. He enjoyed art, the outdoors and was a licensed private pilot.
A memorial service for Mr. Deranian will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 20, in St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland St., Holden. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland St., Holden, MA 01520, or the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Crafts St., Newton, MA 02160. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden is directing arrangements.
