STERLING - Richard “Dick” E. St. Martin, 71, of Rugg Road, died Monday, October 18, 2010 in UMass Memorial Healthcare–Memorial Campus, Worcester, after a fall at home.
He leaves his sister and caregiver, Mary E. Nourse of Sterling; two nieces, Nancy Hagberg and her husband David of Sterling and Susan Nourse of Freeport, Maine; a nephew, Paul Nourse and his wife Tracy of Sterling; a great-niece, Amanda Nourse of Sterling; three great-nephews, Neil and Andrew Hagberg and Cooper Nourse all of Sterling. A brother, Leon St. Martin Jr., a sister, and two dear friends, Austin and Philip Philbin, predeceased him.
He was born in West Boylston the son of Leon F. and Mary E. (St. John) St. Martin, Sr. and lived most of his life in Sterling. Dick worked for several local farms including Philbins Orchards in Sterling. He collected Lionel Trains, enjoyed mowing the lawn and will be sadly missed by his cat “Mitten”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21st, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral for Mr. St. Martin will be held on Friday, October 22nd, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P. O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564.
