Diana L. (Crawford) Savoie

OAKHAM – Diana L. (Crawford) Savoie, 59, of Crawford Road in Oakham, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Saint Vincent Hospital, after a courageous battle and complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis.

She was born on January 4, 1954 in Holden, the daughter of H. Roscoe and Cecile A. (Courteau) Crawford, lived in Oakham most of her life and was a graduate of Quabbin Regional High School. Diana worked many years as a manager at McDonald's Restaurant in Spencer and in the bakery department at the Big Y in both Holden and Spencer, retiring in 2002 due to illness. She was a member of the Prayer Shawl Circle at the Oakham Congregational Church and a member of the Oakham Historical Association. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her kind, friendly and gentle nature. Diana had many talents including crocheting, scrapbooking and gardening.

Diana leaves her devoted husband of 38 years, Paul A. Savoie; two sons, Richard A. Savoie of Philadelphia and David E. Berthiaume of Salt Lake City, Utah; 7 sisters, Edith C. Mathis, Effie M. Hebert and Gladys Bowker all of Worcester, Shirley C. Smith of Barre, Beverly C. Jalil of Holden, June Marzoll of Oakham and Brenda Crawford of W. Swansey, NH; two brothers, Henry R. Crawford, Jr. of Southbridge and Raymond A. Crawford of Oakham; 3 grandchildren, Kevin Berthiume, Tyler and Faith Savoie; and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by a brother, Arthur Crawford.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service celebrating Diana’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, at the Oakham Congregational Church, 4 Coldbrook Road, Oakham. Interment will be private in Green Hollow Cemetery, Oakham. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Oakham Historical Association, P.O.
