STERLING - Armando Puccetti, 77, of Boutelle Road, Sterling, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.
Armando, or "Deno" as everyone knew him, was born in West Boylston and moved to Sterling in 1967 where he has lived since. He is survived by his wife, Gail D. (Bray) Puccetti; his son, Perry A. Puccetti and his wife Jill of Leawood, KS; his daughters, Gina D. Wing and her husband Danny of Monument Beach and Lori L. Puccetti and her partner Kristen A. Mattson of Sterling; along with six loving grandchildren, Amanda, Ariel, Alexandra, Rachel, Austin and Piper. He is also survived by his sister, Elisa Williams of Fairfield, CA, and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Joseph and Louis Ceredona, and Fernando Puccetti.
Son of Italian immigrants, Armando Puccetti Sr. and Madalina (Guilito) Puccetti, Deno was known for his ever-present smile, having a twinkle in his eye, and love of working with his hands. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was an Operating Engineer for the International Union of Operating Engineers #4 for over 30 years. Previously, he worked for Baldarelli Brothers in West Boylston. He was a member of the Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post 189 and the Eight Point Sportsmen's Club both in Sterling, and was an avid fisherman.
Deno loved to be with his friends, was well-known by everyone and enjoyed socializing around town. You would always see him working in his yard or in his garden for he was a hard worker and his home was his pride and joy. We will miss seeing his white Ford coming down the street. Deno was a devoted husband and a wonderful father, he will be forever missed and loved.
