WORCESTER/HOLDEN – Dennis A. Leard, 68, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 10, 2014. He was born in Holden, the son of Wendell H. and Maud E. (Stevens) Leard and had lived in Holden before moving to Worcester seventeen years ago.
He leaves his loving wife of 17 years, Nancy T. (Lesperance) Howe Leard; two step-sons, Charles J. Howe and his wife, Laura and Robert G. Howe, all of Worcester; two step-daughters, Sharon L. Brault and her husband, Michael of North Carolina and Tammy M. Fletcher and her husband Leo of West Boylston; a brother, Richard Leard of Seattle, WA; fifteen grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
Dennis was a housekeeper for over 45 years at UMass Memorial Healthcare – Memorial Campus retiring in 2012. He also worked at St. Vincent Hospital and several area nursing homes. He enjoyed word search books, playing cards and was an avid sports fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Thursday, May 15, from 12 to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
