HOLDEN – Deacon William J. Vigliotti, 78, of 115 Valley Hill Drive, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, in the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester, after an illness.
His wife of 50 years, Jeanette M. (MacDonald) Vigliotti, died on June 29th. He leaves a son, William J. Vigliotti, Jr. of Providence; a daughter, Julia Vigliotti of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers and four sisters, predeceased him. He was born in the New York City, the son of John and Angelina (Destefano) Vigliotti, and lived 37 years in Holden. He attended Oklahoma University and the University of California. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters including the liberation of the Philippines in 1945.
Mr. Vigliotti served in the Diaconal Ministry for the Diocese of Worcester for 25 years, retiring in April. He served in hospital ministry and in parishes including Our Lady of Good Counsel in West Boylston and St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson. Formerly he was an Engineer at Simplex Time Recorder in Gardner, Worcester Valve Control and CPC Corp. in Sturbridge.
The funeral for Deacon Vigliotti will be held on Thursday, July 22, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. The Most Reverend Robert J. McManus will be the Principal Celebrant. Entombment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, in the funeral home.
