HOLDEN – Corrine D. (Cooper) Dodge, 78, of Holden died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in University Commons Nursing Care Center, after a two year courageous battle with cancer.
Her husband of 39 years, William E. Dodge, died in 1992. She leaves her son, William J. Dodge and his wife Rosemary of Holden; three daughters, Susan G. Wiemann and her husband Gary of North Andover, Elizabeth A. Cullen and her husband Patrick of Shrewsbury and Jennifer A. Bramley and her husband Christopher of Allamuchy, New Jersey; a brother, Harold F. Cooper of West Yarmouth; two sisters, Elaine Ives of Suffield, Connecticut and Carolyn Slongwhite of Charlton; six grandchildren, Jared and Brett Wiemann, Brittany and Caitlin Cullen, and Sarah and Christopher Bramley; several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Harold and Amy S. (Peterson) Cooper, was raised in Princeton and lived 53 years in Holden.
Mrs. Dodge graduated from New England Deaconess School of Nursing and attended Boston University. She was a registered nurse and worked in the Blood Bank in New England Deaconess Hospital and later she was a local private duty nurse. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden and a volunteer in it's Corner Shop. She was politically active in local politics and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dodge will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 6, in the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A). Entombment will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520; or the UMass Cancer Center, P.O. Box 2795, Worcester, MA 01613-9938. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
