WORCESTER/WEST BOYLSTON – David E. Woodward, 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of Edgar G. and Hazel M. (Pierce) Woodward and had lived in West Boylston and South Yarmouth before moving back to Worcester three years ago. He leaves his loving wife, Virginia M. (McHugh) Woodward, with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage on May 17th. He also leaves his son, Richard “Woody” D. Woodward and his wife, Jacqueline of Watauga, TN; his daughter, Melanie A. Larrabee and her husband, William “Skitch” of West Boylston; six grandchildren, Sarah Becker and her husband, Ryan, Molly Payne and her husband, Chris, William Larrabee, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, Matthew Larrabee and his wife, Jessica, Derrick Woodward and Travis Woodward; five great grandchildren, Jonas, Charlie, Cooper, Reagan and William III; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Richard Woodward. David graduated from North High School before serving his country. He was a Navy Seamen Second Class serving aboard the USS Louisville (CA 28) and the USS California (BB 44) during World War II. He worked in sales for Morgan Construction for 45 years before retiring in 1992. David was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his family.
