STERLING – David W. Vayo, 79, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after a long struggle with leukemia. He was born in Worcester and had lived in Sterling for over 30 years. He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 55 years, Jean T. (Flagg) Vayo; his daughter, Wendy J. Bartlett and her husband, Shawn of Paxton; his son, Brett D. Vayo of California; his brother, Robert Vayo of Auburn; his sister, Norma Candela of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Alice Turner and his brother, Charles Vayo. David was a quality control inspector at Norton Company for over 30 years. He loved to play golf and was proud to have scored a hole in one in his lifetime. He was a longtime member and won the senior league championship in 2003 at Twin Springs Golf Course in Bolton. He was also an avid gardener who enjoyed winters in Florida and summers down on Cape Cod.
