PRINCETON – David T. Russell, 72, died at home with his loving wife and daughters at his side on Friday, May 4, 2012. Mr. Russell was born in Boston on January 15, 1940, the son of Frances (McDonald) Sexton. He lived in Dorchester, South Boston, Westwood and Marlborough before moving to Princeton 23 years ago.
Mr. Russell leaves his loving wife Roberta “Bobbie” J. (Matthews) Smolin of Princeton; two daughters, Ann L. Russell of East Hartford, CT and Kristine M. Howard and her husband David and their children Connor and Grace of Hollis, NH; the mother of his children, Mary Lou Russell of Bloomfield, CT; a sister, Louise “Ricky” Bolio of Berkley; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Matthews of Crosby, MN; his sisters-in-law, Marilyn K. Hesch and her husband Richard of Aitkin, MN and Debra A. Johnson and her husband John of Buffalo, MN; many nephews, nieces and friends as well as his 20-year-old cat, Tasha. He is predeceased by his sisters, Beverly Mahoney and Dottie Lozinski-Duarte.
Mr. Russell graduated from Boston Technical High School and went on to Northeastern University. He worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst for Digital Equipment Company for 26 years and continued to work as an independent software consultant for many years until his illness. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, camping, bocce, working on his beautiful home and yard in Princeton, and travelling, especially to Europe and North Carolina. He was an avid fan of all New England sports teams and loved crossword puzzles.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A memorial service honoring Mr. Russell’s life will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Princeton, 14 Mountain Road, Princeton. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank his many health care providers, especially Beverly, Joy, Lisa, Peter and Sharon.
