David S. Rose

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION OF SERVICE:HOLDEN - David S. Rose, 59, of Holden, died peacefully with his loving family by his side, at the Oasis at Dodge Park, Worcester on Monday, July 31, 2017. Born and raised in Worcester, David was the son of the late Ralph and Shirley M. (Aronson) Rose, and lived in Holden for the last 33 years.
David graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 1975 and later from Syracuse University with a degree in Business Administration.  After graduating college he went to work for the family business, "The Fair" department stores, until their closing.  David met the love of his life, Melody Beres from Chicago while on a cruise, was engaged in three months and married on October 8, 1983.
He later was the Administrator at Temple Emanuel in Worcester and was involved in several local businesses.  He was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai. He was also a member and past President of Mount Pleasant Country Club, now The Haven.
He was involved in organizing with his family the Rose Family Library at the Clark University Holocaust Center.  Each year, David's family sponsored a deserving student and provided a full scholarship through the Rose Charitable Fund for the Doctoral Program at Clark for Holocaust studies.
David was a devoted husband and father. He spent the last several years compassionately caring for his wife who suffers from Primary Progressive Aphasia.
He leaves his beloved wife of 33 years, Melody Rose; his children, Alex P. Rose and Alana P. Rose, both of New York City; a brother, William Rose and his wife, Kristen of Providence, RI; two sisters, Dianne Cartagenova and her husband, Arturo of Bourne and Lisa Rose Schreckinger of Florida; several nephews and nieces.  Besides his parents, David is predeceased by his sister, Linda Robbins.
CORRECTION: FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2, IN CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, WORCESTER. Burial will follow in B'Nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester.
Memorial Observance will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, and 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 4, at the home of Lisa and Peter Honig, 12 Spring Valley Drive, Worcester.  A Minyan Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the Association for Frontal Temporal Degeneration at www.theaftd.org .  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
