David R. Markert

WORCESTER – David R. Markert, 61, of Cutting Ave., died suddenly at home on Monday, August 18, 2008.

He leaves his wife of 17 years, Linda J. (Allard) Markert; a step-son, Stephen J. Flagg of Worcester; his mother, Gladys (Deyermond) Markert of Hardwick; a brother, Peter B. Markert of Hardwick; two sisters, Wendi L. Lipphardt of Holzwickede, Germany and Amanda G. Begin of Barre; nieces and nephews. He was born in Lawrence, son of the late David L. Markert. David graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, ME and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.

David was a SP5 for the Army serving with the 502nd MP Co., 2nd Armored Division, Fifth U.S. Army during the Vietnam War were he was awarded two Bronze Service Stars. He was a Mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service in Shrewsbury for 20 years retiring in January of this year.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 21st, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
