Worcester, MA/Sun City Center, FL – David Eric Norquist, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024, at Life Path Hospice Center in Sun City Center, Florida. He was born in Worcester, MA, the beloved son of the late Carl E. and Carla L. (Lund) Norquist, and graduated from Commerce High School.
David served with pride in the United States Navy aboard the USS Yellowstone. He furthered his education at Worcester Junior College and Northeastern University before earning an MBA from Nichols College. Throughout his professional career, David worked diligently at Honeywell Corp. and Data General Corp., eventually retiring as a Contracts Manager from Surf Control Co.
David found joy in his membership with the Greendale Men’s Club, where he formed enduring friendships. In retirement, he reveled in the sunshine of Sun City Center, Florida, where he engaged in various sports activities, including participation in the Sun City Center softball team and the Sun City Center Golf Club. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Sun City Center New England Club and enjoyed the camaraderie of the Kings Point Dance Club. In the afternoons, you could often find him in the Lanai with a Sudoku or one of many history books. But above all, David cherished moments spent with his grandchildren. He leaves his family with fond memories of all his travels around the globe.
Left to honor and remember David are his devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret L. (Troiano) Norquist; his son, David E. Norquist, Jr., and his wife, Désirée of Rutland, MA; his brother, John Norquist, and sister-in-law Marge of Warwick, RI; his predeceased brother, Robert and sister-in-law Irene of Pomona, CA and his five grandchildren, Erica Norquist, Benedict Hofmockel, Leopold Hofmockel and Alexa Norquist; as well as Charisma Farrington and all of his cousins, nieces and nephews. David will be reunited in Heaven with his granddaughter, Jenna Norquist.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main St., Rutland, followed by burial at All Faiths Cemetery, 9 Island Rd., Worcester, MA 01603.
