PRINCETON - David D. (Nichols) Nikstenas, 63, a Princeton resident for more than 28 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, Worcester, following a brief illness.
David was born in Boston, the son of Lillian Ante of Natick and the late Edward Z. Nichols. He was a 1969 Framingham North High School graduate and spent several years living in Acton before settling in Princeton. Following high school, David served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. David worked for several high tech companies during his career and retired as a Contracts Manager for Paraxel Company in 2012. David met the love of his life, Diane in 1983 and together they celebrated 31 years of marriage. He enjoyed traveling to exotic islands with his wife, driving his corvette and hanging out with their Shar-Pei, Lilly.
David leaves a son, Michael Nichols of Maynard; two daughters, Cari Nichols of Maynard and Alene Schattschneider of Ohio; a brother, Brian Nichols of Virginia; two sisters, Linda Saiz of Colorado and Karen White of New York; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his older brother, Paul.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with David’s family on Saturday, May 3, from 10 to 12 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 12 noon in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602, or Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Kentucky 41076.
