David 'Moke' 'Moke' Kush

August 21, 1937 — April 28, 2012

STERLING – David “Moke” Kush, 74, of Swett Hill Road, died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, April 28, 2012. He was born in Great Meadows, New Jersey, the son of Michael and Julia (Drochak) Kush, and lived 59 years in Sterling.

David attended schools in New Jersey and worked many years at both Happy Hollow Farm and Kush Construction Co., both in Sterling. He later worked over 10 years for William Vattes Excavating Co. in Bolton. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many years hunting, fishing, raising chickens and gardening.

He is survived by his two sons, Glenn D. Kush and his wife Christine and Gregg R. Kush and his wife Debra, all of Sterling; a brother, Frederick Kush and his wife Betty of Sterling; a sister, Elizabeth Furmanick and her husband Richard of Sterling; a sister-in-law, Anna M. (Freel) Kush of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Nikolai, Rachel, Nathan, Michael and Camden; many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by four brothers, Philip Kush who died March 24, Nicholas, Michael and Peter Kush, and two sisters, Annie Benbrook and Mary Kowalick.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A funeral Mass celebrating David’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, Wildland Fund, 1 Rabbit Hill Road, Westborough, MA 01583.
