David Paul Lapoint, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Born in Worcester and raised in Rutland, David was the son of Bette (Myra) Lapoint and the late Edward Lapoint.
David spent much of his life as a laborer, specializing in roofing and siding. He loved working hard, and proudly owned his own siding company for several years. He was full of life and often could be found fishing in his spare time. It didn’t matter where, in a canoe or a chartered ocean fishing trip, he was happy. Golfing, riding his bike or listening to music were also favorites of his. In his younger years, he was quite the soccer and baseball player and remained a big sports fan throughout his life, especially when watching his own son play football and basketball. David loved his son more than words could ever express. He spoke of him every day to anyone who would listen, and was immensely proud of him. David loved to garden and help his mom out around the yard, always cutting bushes or growing tomatoes and other vegetables. David suffered a serious car accident several years ago and has struggled a lot since, but always tried his hardest to grow stronger in his body and mind.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his cherished mother, Bette Lapoint and her partner in life, and David’s dearest friend, David McClusky of Rutland; his beloved only son, Benjamin Lapoint; his three sisters, Diane Bertholdt and her wife, Ricki Bauman of Tampa, FL, Donna Farrell and her husband, Michael of Hubbardston and Christine Mascetelli and her husband, Edward of East Brookfield; his niece and nephew, Julie and Daniel Bertholdt; his nieces, Amelia, Victoria and Melody Farrell and Abigail, Chloe and Mia Mascitelli; his loving girlfriend, Heather Bellrose; many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends; and his best dog, Marley. David is predeceased by his father, Edward Lapoint.
We are all feeling the great loss of his huge heart and we pray he is at peace now.
Relatives and friends are invited visit with David’s family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 2 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
