Biography
WORCESTER - David Greenberg, 106, died peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Jewish Health Care Center in Worcester, MA.
Married for 68 years to his beloved wife, the late Pearl (née Kaplan), he leaves a son, Dr. Martin S. Greenberg of Philadelphia, and wife Patricia; a daughter, Carol J. Sleeper of Worcester, and husband Michael; grandchildren; Deborah Greenberg and her husband, Roger Henry, Daniel Greenberg and his wife, Joann, Eric Sleeper and his wife, Kristin, Maxine Sleeper, and Naomi Sleeper; and six great-grandchildren, Rachel and Hannah Henry, Jade and Peytan Greenberg, and Elliot and Penelope Sleeper. He was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Rochelle (née Segerman) Greenberg; sister, Doris Iskowitz; and brother, Fred Greene.
He was born in New York City and graduated from St. John’s University. He worked his way through college as a professional musician, and spent his career as a CPA and partner in the accounting firm of Burris, Greenberg and Harris in New York. After retirement, he lived in Delray Beach, FL and then Worcester, MA, where he received the Key to the City in 2010.
He was a role model and an inspiration to family and friends. His love and guidance will be deeply missed.
A graveside service honoring David’s life was held in New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, NY.
Memorial observances will be held at the family residence of Carol and Michael Sleeper, 7 Oak Hill Road, Worcester, from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 2nd, and Thursday, November 3rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Eisenberg Assisted Living – Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
