Worcester - David E. Darling, aged 75, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Born in Holden, he was the son of the late Wyman J. and Anny Mary (Gulbricki) Darling and was raised in Holden.
David served with pride in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and upon his return, embarked on a career with the Massachusetts Highway Department. He later transitioned to the City of Marlborough DPW, where he dedicated himself until retiring at the age of 62. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, David found solace and joy in activities such as fishing and camping, particularly at the Pout and Trout Campground in Rutland. He had a passion for traveling in his RV, riding his Harley and found joy in watching professional wrestling. He always read the Sunday paper. Above all, David cherished moments spent with his family.
David is survived by his son, David Darling, Jr., and his partner, Michelle Sleight of Worcester; his daughters, Melissa Freeman and her husband, Darell Freeman, of Worcester, and Jaime Darling of Tulsa, OK; his sister, Beverly Guyette of Rindge, NH; his granddaughter, Chastity Davis, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Robert, Clifford, and Wyman Darling Jr., as well as his step-brother, Warren Darling.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private.
